Sometimes it is hard for me to comment on your poetry - I always feel like leaving an emoticon like :D or :O but that would be perfectly unprofessional. Sometimes it's beyond words for me.

It is difficult for everyone, Emily. I don't mind a smily, sometimes words can be shifty.

an excellent message! :)

Love the idea of messages being left in shells (like a precious pearl inside an oyster shell)! Much better than the old message in the bottle story! Delightful poem exploring the concept of serendipity!

That's a great image. Loved this.

I read somewhere on line that the it's not the ocean we hear when we put a shell up to our ears, it's the sounds our body is making ... and I smiled, because we are 2/3 fluid, right? It may not be the outside, but it's an ocean never the less ...

... and I smiled when I read this.

Nathalie, this is similar to a saying we have in the Western U.S, "Don't look a gift horse in the mouth."
I.e, just take it, it didn't cost you a cent, find out later how good (a horse) it will be.

I also like your pictoral construction where you add two relating lines to form a tanka.
To me those lines relate very well as an example of a hint of what might be.

Wow.. this was refreshingly unique.. quite intriguing, mysterious... the image too.. There's something about messages scrawled in shells, left abandoned in beaches..

Many times signs are left in place allowing a person to see them...if they only look ... using more than the eyes.

I enjoy finding shells left in the sand.

I'm so happy that serendipity is allowed! Nifty piece and image!

I like the difference in tension between "suspicion" and "allowing." The former is negative and the latter is so positive. And the allowing is hopeful and looking forward. Very very nice.

OK then, :D !!!!!!!!!!!

I have found those words lying around on the beach also. I like the visual punch of the shells with the poem.
