Dear Nathalie-- You seem to have struck a chord of 'likeness' in your fellow OSI friends--we all seem to have insomniac tendencies...thank you for the pale sun analogy. At least it comes up--
Hi Nathalie, I have hypersomnia in the daytime and insomnia at night. I even go to sleep waiting at a stop sign sometimes. At other times I have to crash for several minutes.
Sometimes I can't sleep at night, I will wake up at too early an hour (example, one or two AM). If I stay awake more than a half hour I get up and read or blog or the like. Of course in the middle of the night I am not very creative. I make coffee and eventually go back to bed around six and sleep till eight. And yes, I am like the sun paling. But then, I'm not too bright at any time. :-) ..

I suffers from insomnia, but I never read of it this way before .. thought provoking.
..golden & honeyed
'tis an insomniac's dawn
the night has ended ..
I suffer insomnia now and again due to my cfs. I can relate. Perfectly said.
Clearly put, it's a definite struggle not to feel bitter when struggling to sleep.
That's exactly what it's like. Wow. Thanks for this gem this morning, Nathalie.
A day can't look very bright without some rest.
And the Peace that allows rest.
I've walked this road too.
Thank you for sharing your poem.
I also know this too well. The only reprieve at dawn is in not having to watch the illuminated clock hands advance through the night.

Lovely!
I agree with Beth, I really like the pale sun analogy. This poem says so much about the unending night of sleeplessness in so few words.

Nice! It lends a form of beauty to that most irrational sleep pattern.
night shift
a pale sun
reflected
in a muddy cup
you capture it so well
Yup- insomnia is NO fun- watching the numbers change on the clock minute by minute- you captured this well!
