US has done so much better in producting real breads like these in the past 5-10 years. Yummylishious picture. I've had French bread in France and Italian bread in Italy (only northern) - & I definitely prefered French French bread. Do you notice the difference?
I do notice the difference, but the one I notice the most is salt. My husband is from central Italy, where they eat bread without salt in it and I got used to that (to the point that my pizza dough does not have any salt in it either). It changes the taste, the impact, of the things you eat with bread, in particular cheese, which is pretty salty on its own already.

Ouch - THAT makes me hungry; bread like that unavailable here.
That would sure go nicely with the coffee I'm having right now!
