Victor Hugo is VERY cool.
I need to read more Victor Hugo. I'm woefully deficient in that area.
He was also very good at painting.
Although I am sure it defies translation.... would you dare to attempt to translate the quote for us pitiful anglophones?
I was so happy to make it to Paris after reading Les Miserables. I first fell in love when we sung Castle on a Cloud in choir when I was 11; then I listened to the musical (until the tape died); then read the book... and I was so excited to visit Mont Saint-Michel, beloved of Victor Hugo. It is the most picturesque and incredible of castles. I appreciate his efforts to preserve it.
Literally: Glasses of water have the same passions than oceans.
I would be tempted to translate as: Water in a glass is capable of the same passions than an ocean.
I think you mean 'as oceans' or 'as an ocean' but I understand what you mean. Thank you so very much for the translation.
